Dunlop

The Dunlop brand has a rich and long tradition, suffice it to say that it is currently one of the oldest companies in the tennis market. The history of Dunlop dates back to the beginnings of the sport when players used wooden rackets. It was while playing with a wooden Dunlop racket in 1936 that Helen Jacobs won the Wimbledon tournament, paving the way for the great successes of this manufacturer on the world's courts, to which future legends of the sport such as Rod Laver and the equally famous and controversial John McEnroe would contribute.

Dunlop was an innovator in the production of graphite tennis rackets. In 1977, the company began work on its proprietary process for their production based on injecting graphite during the shaping of rackets, known as IMF (Injection Moulding Frame). In 1980, Dunlop released the first racket produced using the IMF process, the Dunlop Max 150G. However, the older brother of this model based on the same technology, the Dunlop Max 200G, would go down in history as one of the best rackets the sport had ever seen. In 1985, this model was awarded for its technological innovation (Queen's Award for Technological Achievement) and became a tool for Grand Slam triumphs in the hands of stars like John McEnroe and Steffi Graf. The uniqueness of this model was such that it was even used by players who were not under contract, which is the best proof of how amazing the Max 200G racket was.

In more contemporary times, the Dunlop brand continued to boast successes of its players, such as Thomas Johannson's triumph at the Australian Open in Melbourne or Amelie Mauresmo's victory on the grass courts of Wimbledon.

Dunlop, which should not come as a surprise considering its history, remains open to innovative approaches and development. The changing conditions and playing styles in modern tennis realities led the British manufacturer to completely modernize its offerings to better meet the current demands of both professionals and amateurs.

Currently, Dunlop rackets are used not only by players with established positions on the tour like Fernando Verdasco (Biomimetic M3.0), Jurgen Melzer (Biomimetic F3.0 Tour), Nicolas Almagro (F5.0 Tour), Tommy Robredo (Biomimetic M6.0), and Dominika Cibulkova (Biomimetic S6.0 Lite) but also by young stars of the sport like British hopeful Heather Watson (Biomimetic M3.0).

Analyzing the philosophy with which Dunlop approaches the sport, it is not surprising that it is currently one of the few companies with such a long and, most importantly, uninterrupted tradition, and that despite the passing years, it remains a very serious player in the tennis market.
