Types of Tennis Strings | How Do They Work?
A wide selection of strings available in tennis stores can be overwhelming, as the more strings there are, the more questions arise. Which one is better, which one to choose, what are the types of strings and how they differ? Or how they work? We have decided to address your questions regularly in our knowledge zone.

High elasticity and enhanced string performance give the ball a significant acceleration, catapulting it with a considerable force. These properties help in storing the initial energy of the ball. The struck ball largely retains its original shape.
It is recommended to string this type of strings tighter.
Examples: Babolat VS Touch, Babolat Discovery Gut
Multifilament Strings

Multifilament strings are made up of numerous thin fibers and offer similar properties to natural gut strings (significant power increase). However, the ball acceleration is a bit less, and the ball flattens more.
Example: Signum Pro Mcronite
Thick-Core Strings

One or more layers of soft fibers wrap around a solid synthetic core, allowing a blend of comfort with excellent control.
These strings are commonly referred to as synthetics.
Example: Tecnifibre Synthetic Gut
Polyester Strings

Significant ball deformation due to prolonged contact with the string. The result is better control, and thanks to lower rebound energy, these strings are ideal for very strong strikes.
Polyester strings can have a round cross-section, e.g.: Luxilon Alu Power, or a polygonal one, e.g.: Volkl Cyclone.
We have learned about natural gut, multifilament strings, thick-core strings, and polyester strings, so now you know what to expect from a particular type of string and how it will behave in your racket. To choose the right string for yourself, it is good to understand a bit of theory that you will then turn into practice. Because if you spend some time understanding "how it works," you will be able to look at your game from a different perspective.
Now you know how each type of tennis strings work
